PP: Personal project idea

Its abit late but here is where im going to be writing about my research project and personal projects.

The main area that i am focusing on is Streaming media. This area of new media exists but there is still alot to be learnt and there are many avenues that the project could go down.

The Project

For the overall final piece i am going to create a site that a user can upload there files too including music, Video, and the user is able to call the files straight to there mobile. This would mean the user would not need memory at hand and could upload there full album collection and gain access to this at the touch of a button. This would hopefully lead off with further development so you no longer require a hard drive within the device and users are just able to pull up there files and access them from a remote location. i will create a server with files on it and mini page for the mobile to demonstrate how it works, but the thoughts i have is if the user had software on there computer that just catalogues there files and then the user access them and streams them to thier mobile. This would involve a java application on the mobile phone and the idea of making a program to distribute them. This will be documented with the ideas and given as a full proposal idea.

The Paper

I will be looking how streaming media is currently being used and the audience it attracts, also of any up and coming projects. i will look at this project to see if it is possible including the current coverage of 3G and how i could implement it. I.e the software, technologies, Questions raised and how would people accept this new technology.

The paper i aiming to complete in the next 3 weeks so i can concentrate fully on the final project and the ideas behind it.
